modern dance technique
wednesdays 10:30am-12pm
Wanna get sweaty and smile, hearts pounding, bodies open?
Honouring the legacies of modern dance shared with me by David Earle and Suzette Sherman, this class integrates seated floorwork, standing technique practice, phrase work, and floor crossing exercises. We will drop, balance, spiral, fall, tilt, run and fly!
With live accompaniment and sound design from Adam Bowman, it will be a continuous 90-minutes of familiar forms and evolving phrases supported by rhythmic soundscapes.
Experience with modern dance or other classical forms recommended — or a courageous willingness to follow the flow of others!

creative practice
thursdays 7:30-9:15
pm
Moving together in openness and curiosity, developing our capacity to hold (and maybe even celebrate) mystery.
We will compose in the moment through a balanced awareness of personal and relational needs, generously investigating the responsibility and consequence of choice-making. Through experiments with structures that range from props to jazz standards to haiku poetry, new skills for your emerging or ongoing practice of dance-theatre improvisation will be developed.
Curated playlists, guest instructors and guest musicians throughout the experience.
